Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects wild jackrabbits and cottontails and can infect domestic rabbits as well. In the past few months, according to the NM Livestock Board, there have been confirmed cases seen in New Mexico in the following counties: Bernalillo, Otero, Lincoln, Curry, Cibola, Doña Ana, Chavez, Luna, McKinley, Cibola, Torrance, Grant, Santa Fe, Valencia, Eddy and Socorro.
